toe - think global
TOE is participating in this years Public radio collaboration, every year there is a theme, this year its globalization. Yours truly takes a look at the 'global' internet. This was an easy topic for me being that I have been affiliated with the Berkman Center for Internet and Society for the past few years now. The show begins with a profile of Global Voices, this amazing project is spearheaded by Ethan Zuckerman and Rebecca MacKinnon. I also take a look at the OpenNet Initiative, a research project that studies Internet filtering and blocking. The ONI project is what took me to both Kyrgyzstan and China, included in this program is my report on how the recent events in Kyrgyzstan show us that the internet should be covered by election monitors. The last segment is a profile of the Chinese blogosphere and the chinese blog superstar Isaac Mao, whose site was recently taken down by the internet police.
