Bad is the new good
Tonight at the Harvard Law School: Steven Johnson - author of "Everything Bad is Good for you - How Today's Popular culture is actually making us smarter"
Steven will speak about his upcoming book and spirited defense of videogames, television, and reality programming, "Everything Bad Is Good for You: Why Pop Culture Is Actually Making Us Smarter." Johnson is currently a contributing editor for Wired and a monthly columnist for Discover magazine, writing about politics, media, science, and technology. He was the cofounder and editor-in-chief of Feed, the revolutionary Internet magazine that managed to blend technology, science, and culture. He is the author of the national bestseller, "Mind Wide Open: Your Brain and the Neuroscience of Everyday Life," and an author of Best Book of the Year and New York Times notable book, "Interface Culture." Johnson was also named by Newsweek as one of the "Fifty People Who Matter Most on the Internet."
I personally loathe video games and I couldn't bear to read the TV essay that was in last week's NYT - mostly because I am a horrid snob when it comes to this crap, so I think I am going to go to tonight, must.. keep.. open.. mind...
This event is free to the public.. maybe see you there.
