Broadcast 17 'Grant Application'
This week on the radio program: a grant proposal. I recently submitted a grant application to the Corporation for Public Broadcasting and this radio program documents what went into the process. Lets just say, mistakes were made. And I even had some wonderful consulting help: Sam Henderson, the funniest cartoonist working today, recalls for us a grant application he once submitted to the NEA back in the day, and my friend Nart Villineuve, of the Citizen's Lab at UToronto, offers up his theory of the 'scheme cooker'. (Scheme Cookers are very adept at getting grants)
I barely got the grant in on time, it was due on March 5th, when I was in China and thus the stories that take place in the hotel room in Urumchi and on the bicycle in Beijing are unfortunately true.
this TOE is a special "web only" broadcast - I don't think it would be in my best interest for this to hit the official airwaves as I have submitted a real grant application to the CPB and well the bit about the shotguns could be taken the wrong way (update: in fact, the more I think about this the more frightened I am that I am going to get in trouble over this... after all we do live in a ZERO tolerance world right now.. but if I can please beg and plead for a .00005 window for humor!! and besides 1. I don't own a gun, 2. I don't plan on owning a gun and 3. I just thought it would be funny - update2 oh no.. no no no... I am soooo busted now, please God have mercy on me) . LISTEN
